Summer 2011

It was around midnight and I was browsing around Memebase looking at funny pictures and looking for something to take my mind off the everyday depression that I had been living with for a while. I found sone good memes during my browsing and soon I found an MY Little Pony meme. I didn't know anything about the ponies I saw but I brushed it off and continued browsing.

About a week after finding the meme, I started to research it and figure out what it was from. The result of my search floored me. Nonetheless I watched the show in secrecy, playing Minecraft while watching every episode.

I soon finished watching the show and fell in love with it. I continued my lifestyle of video games and light work at my fathers greenhouse. It was a simple lifestyle and a lifestyle my parents disliked. I spent most of my time in my room basically rotting away in depression. The saddest part was that video games made me feel somewhat happy, but they also made me sad whenever I realized that I was being a lazy, worthless pile of crap not doing anything to help out in society or for my future.

It was the most constricting feeling I ever felt, I still sometimes feel it today as well (December 2012) but I've gotten better about it.

Anyways, after a couple weeks of playing Minecraft (Beta 1.5) single player I began to grow bored. I decided to journey to the world of multiplayer Minecraft.

---Side Story---

It was there that I met my first Minecraft friend, Retro_Block, and wouldn't you know it, he was a brony as well. We became friends quickly and soon I discovered that even though I was paranoid of people before, the amount of mistrust I had wasn't enough to protect our bases. I wanted to build a bridge from my mountain base to his, but while building it, we got raided by probably the biggest asshole on Minecraft.

I had nothing to lose so it wasn't a major problem for me to lose my home, but I cost Retro his home and base that no doubt took weeks to build. Unfazed after the lost battle, Retro and I set out for new land, we walked away from the spawn for days and days until we reached a good spot. He started his base and I started mine not too far away from his.

We lasted for a while, almost two months of seclusion and no raiding on our bases. But an admin screwed him over and teleported the same raider towards his base. I had recently moved to a slightly further place (I was about 150 - 200 meters away) My base remained untouched for the shear fact that mine had an exit only and it was very hidden.

Near the end of summer, school started and the minecraft server we had playing on had closed. Retro and I had each other as skype contacts but we didn't really talk much until winter time came around.

---End Side Story---

Winter 2011

Winter time was when my career as a vector artist started, it was also the time I read my first fanfic and discovered how much I loved them.  The first fanfic I ever read was My Little Dashie. I loved the fanfic so much that I decided to write my own fic, Dream Little Pony. Being the first story I ever wrote, it wasn't good, in my opinion, but others who have read it have said that it is decent. So instead of fixing the story, I decided to start writing a new one: Blue Bolt: The Lightning Stone, which is still being written (on the date of this post.)

Digression aside I started my vector art career by vectoring an OC pony, mine to be specific. I had recently gotten the Adobe Production Premium suite and had learned how to use Adobe Illustrator in a Digital Design class at my school. I knew not so much about the program but I knew all the basics. So I plopped in a dvd of House (to all the House fans out there, I watched the episode where he helps the lady in Antartica via webcam) and began vectoring. This started to become a common habit for me as I worked, but it soon transitioned from House to My Little Pony; Friendship is Magic.

Summer 2012

School has just finished and summer school is about to start and I want to start a project, my biggest project I had conceived yet, my background characters project. I only did 14 vectors for the project but that was because I didn't have time to work on more due to summer school English 12. But I delivered the project on time and started to become a better vector artist with a very few amount of errors in my work. The errors I did have though were found by a great brony and someone I like to consider a friend 90Sigma.

He critiqued a majority of my vectors while I was working on the project and was one of the only vector inspectors in the vector club who answered my request for help when I asked. A few other VI's answered but those answers always came days after and not promptly like 90Sigma did.

I'm not saying that I dislike the VI's, hell... after I finished the background characters project, I wanted to become one. I'm just saying they didn't answer my notes or messages promptly, if ever. (Yes, I know they are busy, and have to answer notes from other people too.)

The next day after I went on a vacation to my cousins wedding and read the fanfic Shipping and Handling (by Pegasus Rescue Brigade) When I got home, I started mulling the idea of making an audio play of it and the next day I sent a message to the author, PRB, asking if I could and on August 8th, the largest and longest project I ever worked on started. I originally wanted to make an audio play of my own story but I was suffering the biggest writers block of all time for Blue Bolt: The Lightning Stone and I figured that nobody wants to listen to a story like mine anyways, Shipping and Handling is much more interesting! So I stuck with the idea of making the audio play of Shipping and Handling. He agreed to my request but the way he agreed gave me goosebumps.

Quote from PegasusRescueBrigade on Aug 8, 2012, 1:01:07 PM: I never turn down people interested in doing projects like that. It's just, typically, after I give permission, the project never gets off the ground. Others have already tried to do this with S&H and stopped after the first chapter.

It is now five months after the fact and the project is nearing halfway finished. I overcame the fear of it failing and made sure it didn't fall in on itself.

Back to when it started, however, on the first day when I woke up, I checked my email to see that I had 20+ emails in my inbox, which quickly and steadily rose to a higher number every hour. I was having a hard time keeping up with all the emails and even with gmail's efficient email sorting system, it still wasn't enough.

I had to find a new way to organize my inbox, and a new way I found. After realizing that I had Microsoft Outlook, I quickly scrambled to set it up and an hour later I organized my inbox and was able to transfer information much more easily.

And thus, the Audio Play began.

Winter 2012

We make it to present day and what has become of Silentmatten?

Well, I've become a vector artist with a burning passion to become a Vector Inspector in the Vector Club and creating less work than I would prefer to. The reason for less content is because of all the projects I've been joining and working on. The first largest project would be the Audio Play, naturally. The second largest is the My Little Pony; Roleplaying is Magic, the third Journey of the Spark, the fourth, going to my IRL Job and the fifth, school and finally but not leastly, vector art. I have a packed schedule all the time and not enough time to work it.

So there you have it, my brony story from start to finish (with some boring segments cut out.) Perhaps next time I will explain where the "High Quality is Never Enough" came from :3
I asked in a poll if anyone would be interested in reading my Brony story, so here it is! Enjoy!
